Organization Spotlight: Sumner County Fair

Aloha readers! We may not be near the Pacific, but the Sumner County fair board is encouraging you all to bring the Hawaiian Islands to Caldwell from August 4th-7th.

The earliest records of the Sumner County Fair’s existence began in 1927. Many events have changed over the past 95 years but the one that remains a constant since the fair’s inception is the entering and judging of exhibits from animals to art.

The Sumner County Fair fun will kick off July 30th with a Horse Show. Thursday, August 4th will be the start of a weekend of hard work, laughs, and competition throughout the fairgrounds.

Kids of all ages will put their animals to test in the show ring. You can read more about the events coming up throughout the weekend in the fair tabloid which will be coming out in the upcoming weeks.

County fairs look differently than they did even 5 years ago, but the Fair Board and participants of the Sumner County Fair have always strived to provide fresh new ideas and events to fill in the gaps. Most recently “Farm Olympics and Cork and Canvas were introduced and sponsored by our members Strnad Land and Cattle and Creative Vibes Art Studios.

Fair Buttons will be available for sale at various locations throughout the County as well as that day at the fair. You can use these buttons as your chances to win daily drawings and prizes. Save your button for figure 8 and demo derby for $1.00 off gate admission.

Additional events to look forward to are the race events on August 19th and 20th and the Drag Race and Car Show on September 3rd. We can’t wait to see you at the fair! Make sure to follow along with the Sumner County Fair by checking out their Facebook page and articles in the paper!
