The Caldwell Czech Chapter started in 1975 to preserve the rich Czech Heritage in the Caldwell and Sumner County area. If your memory spans to this time you will remember the huge Czech Day at the Sumner County Fair, rumor has it Bob Dole attended via Private Helicopter to attend. As time goes by and families move, a core group of individuals has tried to remind visitors of that Czechoslovakian Heritage they are so proud of.
The Czech Chapter hosts several fundraisers throughout the year, where most of the funds earned are given right back to the youth via scholarships and to the Caldwell Community through donations to the Chamber Fireworks and Sumner County Fair for entertainment. The Czech "Pivo" Garden is the most known fundraiser which happens during the Annual Chisholm Trail Festival and Sumner County Fair. New within the past couple of years, has been the Czech History tour that stops at the ZCBJ and Sokol Halls, and Czech Cemetery all located west of Caldwell. Both Halls were local haunts for the Czech Community in their day.
You can stay up to date with the local Czech Chapter by attending one of their meetings held monthly, or by following them on their Facebook page at Caldwell Czech Chapter No. 1.
