On the evening of June 8th, 2023 a small group of 30 watched in anticipation as owner, Brooke Kuehny cut the ribbon celebrating her new business "What in Carnation" located at 8 S Main. Surrounded by family, friends, and champion community members Brooke provided snacks and refreshments and her nieces provided entertainment for What in Carnation's Downtown Debut.
After Lucinda Wood, owner of Flowers Plus made the tough decision to put away her vases one last time, after 38 years, Brooke Kuehny saw an opportunity to express her creative side in a different facet besides brush and canvas. Taking a month to do some building updates, including a fresh coat of paint, new flooring, a beautiful mural on the south wall, and some organizing What in Carnation opened to the public on May 1st for May Day with a make-and-take May Day basket event.
Are you wondering why, if she opened officially on May 1 we are just now celebrating with her downtown debut? Well, it's because Brooke was swamped with floral orders right off the bat, she had another month's worth of school, where she teaches area schools online art classes, sporadic paint parties at her other business Creative Vibes Art Studio, and the unknown of harvest. Are you tired after reading all that? I was tired after typing it up.
What in Carnation offers fresh-cut floral arrangements for every occasion, and even has grab-and-go arrangements stored in her cooler daily, perfect for a last-minute gift or a just-because surprise. What in Carnation also has house plants and a wide variety of gifts on the shelves.
You can pop in and visit Monday through Thursday 9 am - 12 pm, Fridays 9 am-5 pm, and Saturdays 9 am- 12 pm. Normal 9-5 hours will begin after Kuehny Wheat Harvest is over. You can call to place your order at 620-845-2660 and she even offers the forgetful flower gifter the opportunity to pre-order and store your special dates, never worry about forgetting, a birthday, anniversary, or Valentine's Day again!
If you didn't make it to the Downtown Debut for What in Carnation we urge you to stop in to pay What in Carnation a visit, you won't be disappointed!
