Business Spotlight: Caldwell Messenger Suites
Extra... Extra... Read all about it! The Messenger Suites located at 14 E Central wasn’t always the quaint boutique mini-hotel it is today. It was the home of dozens of newspapers spanning over the years until 1987. The Hammond Building’s history still shines through as you step through the front door and set your eyes on a beautiful, authentic printing press; no longer useful as typewriters came onto the scene. After changing hands several times previous owners did a total renovation in 2006 turning it into the beautiful mini-hotel it is today. The Caldwell Messenger Suites make you feel right at home, with your choice of a king or queen suite. Enjoy the historic charm with current up-to-date amenities, who doesn’t love climate-controlled AC during the Kansas summers? Downstairs is the host to a coffee shop and loads of history, and even more laughs. The current owner, Chet Willey purchased the building in 2014 and continues today providing Caldwell and its visitors with a fine choice to stay. Chet, Angel, and Kathy strive to provide their patrons the best stay possible and have frequent fliers that make the Suites their first choice when traveling. The Suites have seen many a bride get ready for her big day, hosted weary travelers ready to kick their feet up and take in the sights Caldwell has to offer, or those “spillover” family members that know the beds at the suites are far comfier than Aunt Martha’s guest bed.
