Caldwell is having fun playing host to one of the 2017 Chisholm Trail celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the trail. Though born on the trail in 1871, it wasn’t until 1879 when the Santa Fe Railroad expanded its line to Caldwell that she boomed into a true cattle town, loading up and heading east with shipments of beef.
Chisholm Trail 2017 Events & Updates
The City of Caldwell has been very busy in 2016. Looking back, it’s amazing what the small staff working for the City has been able to accomplish. Planning work continued on the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Project, with the construction phase beginning in 2017. The SRTS Grant will assist the City in constructing new sidewalks and raised cross walks near and surrounding the Caldwell School grounds. This project was made possible through the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT).
Chisholm Trail Update
Celebrating the 150th birthday of the Chisholm Trail is getting closer and full of fun! I hope everyone will try to fit at least one event into their 2017 plans. The event committee along with the Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee is planning a fun-filled 3-day fest during our annual Chisholm Trail Festival weekend May 5-7, 2017.
